{short description of image} WE ARE......A Joyous People...
a congregation of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches – one of the hundreds worldwide that trace their roots to the formation of the first Metropolitan Community Church by the Rev. Troy Perry.

It has been said that "When Rev. Troy Perry founded Metropolitan Community Church in 1968, he called gay men and lesbians into a new relationship with their Creator."

In Baton Rouge, as with other Metropolitan Community Churches, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and heterosexual Christians – as well as all other people of faith – are welcome to worship God, our Creator. They are offered the message that all of us are created by God and should share in the grace and glory of our Creator.

Because of this emphasis on the all-embracing love of God, thousands of people have joined the worldwide Metropolitan Community Church family, and hundreds have celebrated that joy here in Baton Rouge.

 Our Beginnings...

We have been a part of the Baton Rouge community since the Baton Rouge Church was founded on December 4, 1983. Twelve people spent four months making all of the arrangements, and it was six weeks form the time we decided to open the doors until we actually did. Our 25th Anniversary will be December 4, 2008!

The Members...
of the congregation and friends of MCCBR Metropolitan Community Church represent the diversity in our community.  They are male and female, young and not-so-young,... And their occupations range from state employees, retail clerks, university students and workers in various industries to health-care professionals, business owners and university faculty and students.

To each of them – and to you – Metropolitan Community Churches offers the message that everyone is welcome as a member of God’s family.

The Joy...
of what some have said about their experience with Metropolitan Community Churches:

"Metropolitan Community Church isn’t a gay church. Metropolitan Community Church is a Christian church that offers the message that gay people are welcome, that gay men and lesbians were created by God and have the right to enjoy happy and healthy lives." – Metropolitan Community Church founder, the Rev. Elder Troy Perry.
"As a Christian, believing in the teachings of Jesus, I find MCCBR to be a wonderful Christ-led congregation, filled with joy. " – MCCBR charter member Ted Baldwin.
The Celebrations...
We gather for worship at 11 a.m. every Sunday at 7747 Tom Drive, two blocks from Airline Norht of Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge.
Congregational singing, lay leadership, energetic, spirit filled contemporary music, positive, meaningful messages and inspirational readings from the words of Jesus combine to truly make our services a celebration.

But the joy of life we celebrate doesn't stop with those regular worship celebrations. We also hold a variety of special services and activities at its church building, including special Christmas and Easter services, occasional choir concerts, regular potluck dinners, Holy Unions, pastoral care, workshops, Bible studies, sharing groups, peace and justice concerns and a host of others.

However, celebrations aren’t limited to that building. MCCBR sponsors activities at other facilities in our community, and its members frequently enjoy Sunday lunches together and participate in various activities of fun and fellowship at other times.

Celebrate With Us...
We offer something for everyone.
We offer the message that Christ's message of God’s grace and glory is for all, and it offers the opportunity for fellowship with gay and lesbian brothers and sisters. In addition, it offers the flexibility for additional activities to meet your needs.
